about

This is our first release. It's about the Arab Spring (and the power of ideas).

You can pay what you want for it. *If you choose to pay nothing it would be awesome if you could tweet/share on Facebook/post a link or whatever* (there's buttons and that once you've downloaded). If you don't, however, the Thought Police will not find you. Your family members will be safe. Your life will continue as normal.

We've released it under a Creative Commons BY NC SA license. Essentially this means you are free to share and remix the song, as long as you don't benefit comercially from it. Changed/remixed works must attribute What We Call Progress as the authors. If you share/distribute the resulting work, you must do so under the same license.

lyrics

Lyrics:
Set fire to all your received wisdom!
You've turned temples into rubber rooms.
Sometimes my tears don't dry,
They form rivers, running to the sea.

If you wanna get guns and bombs, we are belief.
If your generals twist the knife we're an idea
and if you wanna put all your hope in violence and machines:
We are, we are, we are, we are a concept.

Our bodies turn to dust -
What, then, of all that we have done?
I'm at the funeral of thinking:
"I know what I know".

Glitch rock philosophers from Newcastle upon Tyne, What We Call Progress make music in the tension between nihilistic despair and a genuine hope in the power of togetherness.

With samples taken from malfunctioning children's toys, forced rhubarb and twisted live recordings, they build accessible melody and riffs from the unexpected and unconventional.
